The all-electric future of Ford is coming faster than you think. The incredibly popular 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning has entered pre-production at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center, and Ford is supporting demand by boosting production output.
Ford in September announced that it will invest an additional $250 million across three production facilities in Michigan to support increased F-150 Lightning output. This will lead to the creation of 450 direct jobs and allow Ford to build 80,000 electric trucks each year.
“We knew the F-150 Lightning was special, but the interest from the public has surpassed our highest expectations and changed the conversation around electric vehicles. So we are doubling down, adding jobs and investment to increase production,” said Ford Executive Chair Bill Ford.
It’s easy to see why Ford is doubling down. Since its debut earlier this year, the all-electric F-150 Lightning has seen reservations well over 100,000 from across the country. Americans in Texas and elsewhere are ready for a powerful, Built Ford Tough® electric truck, and it shows.
By increasing production, Ford ensures that more Texans can enjoy the many benefits of its groundbreaking F-150 Lightning when it launches in spring 2022. You can reserve your 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning at Sour Lake Ford today and be one of the first in Truckville to show off in the pickup of the future.
Dear old Dad has done just about everything for you. He changed your diapers, put up with you as a bratty teen, and kept you laughing with his corny jokes. Why not repay him for his sacrifices with a brand-new car like the Ford Bronco Sport?
The KBB praised the Bronco’s off-road-ready capabilities, which include standard 4×4 capability, 23.6 inches of water fording ability, and a cool 8.8 inches of ground clearance. Your dad will love taking the grandkids on a camping adventure in the Bronco Sport, which offers accessories like a roof-mounted tent that can support up to 150 pounds.
The Bronco Sport Goes Over Any Terrain in with its powerful G.O.A.T. Mode™ selector that allows you to choose a traction setting that works for sandy, slippery, or normal terrain. Steel bash plates will keep Dad from damaging his Bronco Sport’s underbody when he’s off-roading, while the SUV’s best-in-class 65.2 cubic feet of cargo room lets him bring along all the tackle he wants on his next fishing trip.
Ford and State Farm have struck a new partnership that can help you save money on car insurance and reduce insurance rates and overall vehicle ownership costs.
After a one-year pilot program, the two companies determined that drivers insured by State Farm saved up to 20 percent when they drove vehicles equipped with the Ford Co-Pilot360™ suite of advanced safety features, which now comes as standard equipment on many new Ford vehicles.
The technology, which is capable of automatically braking for cars and pedestrians to avoid a frontal collision, gave Ford and State Farm better insight into the driving habits of Ford owners. This information, which the automaker calls Vehicle Build Data, gives State Farm a comprehensive understanding of how advanced driver assistance systems impact claims, such as how often they occur and how severe they are.
“Our new build data API piloted with State Farm is another way we’re using data to help our customers get the most out of their Ford, at a lower total cost of ownership,” said Tim Meek, digital insurance manager for Ford.
Ford and State Farm plan to roll out the program to Ford, Lincoln, and even Mercury vehicles going as far back as the 2010 model year so that even second and third owners can benefit from reduced insurance rates.

The 2021 Ford Bronco has off-road enthusiasts buzzing as the iconic SUV is set to make its long-awaited return. Many fans were specifically clamoring for combining the Sasquatch™ Package with a seven-speed manual transmission, and their persistence paid off.
“The Bronco community spoke and we heard them. Our team moved quickly to add Sasquatch with a manual transmission- another example of our focus on giving customers the best possible off-road vehicles and accessories that we can,” said Ford Bronco consumer marketing manager Mark Grueber.
The Sasquatch™ is offered on every 2021 Ford Bronco Trim and comes standard on the Wildtrak and sold-out First Edition. It uses 35-inch Goodyear mud-terrain tires, 17-inch black-painted beadlock-capable wheels, Bilstein shock absorbers, electronic-locking front and rear Dana axles, and a 4.7:1 final drive ratio for supreme off-road balance and performance. When the package is paired with both the manual and 4×4 system, the Bronco achieves a maximum crawl ratio of 94.75:1.
The Sasquatch™ Package, complete with the seven-speed manual, will be available in late 2021. Per Ford, the first group of new Broncos will come out in spring of 2021. Contact us at Sour Lake Ford in Sour Lake, TX to pre-order a new 2021 Ford Bronco of your own.
The upcoming Ford F-150 Raptor is expected to be an even more powerful and off-road capable vehicle than the current generation. In fact, rumors suggest that this rugged truck will have a spirited engine that surpasses even the engine of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX.
The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX comes with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that delivers best-in-class 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. However, the next generation of the Ford F-150 Raptor may soon take away the Ram truck’s best-in-class titles with its new engine.
The F-150 Raptor might add the supercharged 5.2-liter V8, which could pump out anywhere from 725 horsepower to 750 horsepower, making for a more enjoyable drive than the Ram 1500 TRX offers. This engine currently comes standard on the athletic 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500®.
Other rumors suggest that the F-150 Raptor will have an updated coil spring setup in place of its leaf spring suspension. This would allow the truck to better compete with the Ram 1500 TRX, which has a five-link coil suspension.
The Ford F-150 Raptor may have limited availability in the 2021 model year or arrive in the 2022 model year. Stay tuned to our blog for more updates on this truck, or give us a call at Sour Lake Ford in Sour Lake, Texas, if you’d like to get your hands on the current F-150.

We’ve all seen compact cars and subcompact SUVs, but how about a compact pickup truck? Well, you can soon expect such a thing to head down the line. After the recent redesign of the Ranger a few years back, Ford is re-entering the small truck segment. The upcoming Ford compact pickup truck’s codename is P8758, though it might possibly adopt the moniker of “Courier,” the truck design that the Ranger replaced back in the 80s. Whatever the model’s name, this will be the first time in a long while that Ford has a small pickup in the U.S. market. The “Courier” is slated to be built on a unibody frame.
Ford CEO Jim Farley articulated that the company is “investing in more affordable versions of our truck business.” It plans to produce over 100,000 of these compact pickups priced under the $20,000 mark — that’s about $5K cheaper than the current Ford Ranger. This will give Ford a nice four-truck lineup to offer to drivers.
It’s not the only upcoming Ford development to anticipate, however. You can start getting excited over the expected redesigns for the Ranger and F-150, as well as new hybrid and all-electric F-150 models. Word on the street also has it that Ford might design an off-roader based on the Bronco platform, to further extend the brand’s truck lineup.
Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming compact pickup truck. In the meantime, test-drive our current Ford trucks here at Sour Lake Ford.
