The all-electric future of Ford is coming faster than you think. The incredibly popular 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning has entered pre-production at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center, and Ford is supporting demand by boosting production output.
Ford in September announced that it will invest an additional $250 million across three production facilities in Michigan to support increased F-150 Lightning output. This will lead to the creation of 450 direct jobs and allow Ford to build 80,000 electric trucks each year.
“We knew the F-150 Lightning was special, but the interest from the public has surpassed our highest expectations and changed the conversation around electric vehicles. So we are doubling down, adding jobs and investment to increase production,” said Ford Executive Chair Bill Ford.
It’s easy to see why Ford is doubling down. Since its debut earlier this year, the all-electric F-150 Lightning has seen reservations well over 100,000 from across the country. Americans in Texas and elsewhere are ready for a powerful, Built Ford Tough® electric truck, and it shows.
By increasing production, Ford ensures that more Texans can enjoy the many benefits of its groundbreaking F-150 Lightning when it launches in spring 2022. You can reserve your 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning at Sour Lake Ford today and be one of the first in Truckville to show off in the pickup of the future.
