Ford recently announced the all-new, all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning truck — and it’s the most powerful and efficient Ford F-150 pickup ever. If you’re a fan of the F-150 series, then you will love this new, electrifying addition.

The all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning will come with two battery options, with the standard-range battery getting 230 miles and the extended-range battery offering up to 300 miles of maximum range. The standard 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro will help you charge up quickly at home. This electric power translates to 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque and up to 10,000 pounds of available maximum towing. With the standard 2.4-kilowatt Pro Power Onboard and available Ford Intelligent Backup Power, you can also use the Ford F-150 to power your house during an outage.

On top of its efficient and powerful performance, the all-new F-150 Lightning will also feature the latest technology, including a 15.5-inch portrait touch screen with SYNC® 4A, BlueCruise hands-free driving, Ford Power-Up over-the-air update capabilities, Onboard Scales, new Pro Trailer Hitch Assist technology, and Phone As A Key technology.

The Ford F-150 Lightning also features a unique design, offering 14.1 cubic feet of cargo volume and a 400-pound payload in its front trunk. The front trunk also includes four electrical outlets and two USB chargers.

The new 2021 Ford F-150 has already proven itself to be a capable, tough, and award-worthy model. After already taking home the 2021 North American Truck of the Year title, the F-150 has now earned the 2021 Detroit Free Press Truck of the Year award as well.

The 2021 Ford F-150 surpassed its competitors and won the prestigious Freep award, thanks in part to its best-in-class 14,000 pounds of towing capacity and its class-exclusive 3.5-liter PowerBoost™ Full Hybrid V6. This available engine delivers 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque, while also being fuel-efficient.

Freep also appreciated the technologies of the 2021 F-150, like its future Active Drive Assist hands-free system and the segment-exclusive Over-the-Air Updates of its SYNC® 4 system. The truck’s available Interior Work Surface and comfortable Max Recline Seats also gave it a leg up over competitors.

In addition, author Mark Phelan noted that the F-150 has some features that, despite being overlooked by the competition, ultimately helped the truck win the award. These include a tailgate with a built-in measuring stick and c-clamp receivers as well as longer running boards that go behind the cab to provide easier bed access.
