Upcoming F-150 Raptor Might Outperform Ram 1500 TRX

2020 Ford F-150 Raptor | Sour Lake, TX

The upcoming Ford F-150 Raptor is expected to be an even more powerful and off-road capable vehicle than the current generation. In fact, rumors suggest that this rugged truck will have a spirited engine that surpasses even the engine of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX.

The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX comes with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that delivers best-in-class 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. However, the next generation of the Ford F-150 Raptor may soon take away the Ram truck’s best-in-class titles with its new engine.

The F-150 Raptor might add the supercharged 5.2-liter V8, which could pump out anywhere from 725 horsepower to 750 horsepower, making for a more enjoyable drive than the Ram 1500 TRX offers. This engine currently comes standard on the athletic 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500®.

Other rumors suggest that the F-150 Raptor will have an updated coil spring setup in place of its leaf spring suspension. This would allow the truck to better compete with the Ram 1500 TRX, which has a five-link coil suspension.

The Ford F-150 Raptor may have limited availability in the 2021 model year or arrive in the 2022 model year. Stay tuned to our blog for more updates on this truck, or give us a call at Sour Lake Ford in Sour Lake, Texas, if you’d like to get your hands on the current F-150.

Ford Teams With TomTom for Next-Gen Navigation

2021 TomTom Navigation | Sour Lake, TX

Starting with the 2021 model year, you can enjoy the exceptional navigation skills of TomTom in select Ford vehicles. Ford Motor Company and TomTom recently signed a multi-year contract that will allow the former to add the latter’s next-gen navigation in upcoming models.

The first Ford vehicles to showcase the new partnership will be the 2021 Mustang Mach-E and the 2021 F-150. These models will feature the new SYNC® 4, the next generation of infotainment from Ford. By using TomTom through SYNC® 4, drivers will be able to adjust their navigation routes based on traffic to help avoid delays due to congestion.

The next-generation SYNC® 4 is said to offer two times the computing power of previous generations. This new system paired with TomTom navigation will keep up with real-time traffic and construction updates to provide the fastest routes on the fly. Drivers will also be able to use SYNC® 4 for help with parking, as the navigation shows information on parking spots and prices.

TomTom navigation and other SYNC® 4 features can be controlled with natural voice recognition. By using an easy, conversational tone, drivers can pull up directions, find restaurants, or send text messages, all while keeping their hands on the wheel.

Ford Reveals Escape Plug-In Hybrid Fuel Economy

2020 Ford Escape | Sour Lake, TX

The all-new 2020 Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid is making its appearances in showrooms this summer. Upon its release, it will be the segment’s most efficient vehicle thanks to its 100 MPGe, as well as its 37-mile fully-electric range.

The original Ford Escape was the world’s first hybrid SUV. The all-new Escape Plug-In Hybrid shows how far the automaker has come. The new SUV will have more power and more passenger space than the Fusion Energi Plug-In Hybrid, and the cargo volume behind the second-row seats will be four times greater than the Fusion’s.

A 2.6-liter Atkinson-cycle hybrid engine will power the 2020 Escape Plug-In Hybrid. It works along with a liquid-cooled 14.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery, which is placed beneath the second-row seats. Using just gasoline, the 2020 Escape Plug-In Hybrid will provide you with 41 mpg combined, already making it one of the most efficient vehicles on the market.

Four driving modes empower the driver to optimize your experience and efficiency: Auto EV, EV Now, EV Later, and the brand-new EV Charge Mode, which builds up electric mileage in the hybrid system as you drive. And the Level 1/Level 2 AC charging port allows you to reach a full charge in just 3.5 hours.

Summer Car Care Tips in Sour Lake, TX

Ford Service Technician Replacing Car Battery | Sour Lake, TX

With the hot summers we experience in Texas, it’s important to perform summer car care. There are a range of things to keep in mind, such as checking electrical equipment, checking the coolant levels, and maintaining the tires, among other things. Here are some car maintenance tips to make sure your vehicle stays healthy this summer and for many seasons to come.

One of the most important things to do in hot climates is to check the battery and the electrical system. Heat is more harmful to the battery than cold weather, as it can cause the fluid to evaporate and internal corrosion. Check the charge of your battery, make sure it’s securely mounted and clean off any corrosive buildup from the battery terminals and clamps.

Check your coolant levels. Most vehicles have “hot” and “cold” levels, as the fluid change levels depending on whether your engine is warm, and be sure to use a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze. If you haven’t flushed the cooling system in the past two years, do so now.

Finally, make sure that your tires are properly inflated. Heat causes air pressure to rise, which can overinflate the tires and cause added wear. The proper tire pressure should be listed on the driver’s side door jamb.

Keep auto care easy when you schedule a service appointment at Sour Lake Ford. We’re here to help ensure that your summer travels are as safe as they are fun.

Upcoming Ford Compact Pickup to Start Under $20K

2020 Ford Ranger SuperCab | Sour Lake, TX

We’ve all seen compact cars and subcompact SUVs, but how about a compact pickup truck? Well, you can soon expect such a thing to head down the line. After the recent redesign of the Ranger a few years back, Ford is re-entering the small truck segment. The upcoming Ford compact pickup truck’s codename is P8758, though it might possibly adopt the moniker of “Courier,” the truck design that the Ranger replaced back in the 80s. Whatever the model’s name, this will be the first time in a long while that Ford has a small pickup in the U.S. market. The “Courier” is slated to be built on a unibody frame.

Ford CEO Jim Farley articulated that the company is “investing in more affordable versions of our truck business.” It plans to produce over 100,000 of these compact pickups priced under the $20,000 mark — that’s about $5K cheaper than the current Ford Ranger. This will give Ford a nice four-truck lineup to offer to drivers.

It’s not the only upcoming Ford development to anticipate, however. You can start getting excited over the expected redesigns for the Ranger and F-150, as well as new hybrid and all-electric F-150 models. Word on the street also has it that Ford might design an off-roader based on the Bronco platform, to further extend the brand’s truck lineup.

Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming compact pickup truck. In the meantime, test-drive our current Ford trucks here at Sour Lake Ford.
