Upcoming Ford Compact Pickup to Start Under $20K

2020 Ford Ranger SuperCab | Sour Lake, TX

We’ve all seen compact cars and subcompact SUVs, but how about a compact pickup truck? Well, you can soon expect such a thing to head down the line. After the recent redesign of the Ranger a few years back, Ford is re-entering the small truck segment. The upcoming Ford compact pickup truck’s codename is P8758, though it might possibly adopt the moniker of “Courier,” the truck design that the Ranger replaced back in the 80s. Whatever the model’s name, this will be the first time in a long while that Ford has a small pickup in the U.S. market. The “Courier” is slated to be built on a unibody frame.

Ford CEO Jim Farley articulated that the company is “investing in more affordable versions of our truck business.” It plans to produce over 100,000 of these compact pickups priced under the $20,000 mark — that’s about $5K cheaper than the current Ford Ranger. This will give Ford a nice four-truck lineup to offer to drivers.

It’s not the only upcoming Ford development to anticipate, however. You can start getting excited over the expected redesigns for the Ranger and F-150, as well as new hybrid and all-electric F-150 models. Word on the street also has it that Ford might design an off-roader based on the Bronco platform, to further extend the brand’s truck lineup.

Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming compact pickup truck. In the meantime, test-drive our current Ford trucks here at Sour Lake Ford.
